Peter Green
Peter has always been an election tragic. The privilege to be able to participate in the democratic process is a freedom not everyone around the world has and Peter has always been a fervent and, no doubt, highly opinionated advocate of this process.
The rise of the the internet has brought communication of our political process so much closer to home. People can now engage with and demand of, through online forums, tweets and blogs, their politicians in a very real and direct sense. The internet has revolutionized the democratic process and has brought home the real possibilities of direct participatory democracy.
And so this has encouraged Pete to observe and note this new form of the democratic process.
Nic Lucas
Nic is a PhD researcher and internet bloke who has swallowed the social media ‘red pill’ and has gone way down the rabbit warren … and while hanging around in this virtual / not-so-virtual world as a ‘social media guide‘ he became very interested in how Australian political leaders would use social media in the lead up to the 2010 Australian Federal Election.
Would they shun it? Use it just to disperse their official statements? Or would they truly ‘get it’. Would they use social media to listen to the Australian people and engage with them.
So, who better to hang out with and ‘notice’ all this stuff but with long time friend and election tragic, Peter Green.
